Poor Barney was attacked by a dog he’s known for months and was walking with regularly. It was weird and random and unexpected. Luckily, Barney is not too badly off, but he does have four puncture wounds in his bum. He’s going to be wearing the cone of shame for a while, but he seemed okay with another dog when he was at the vet, so hopefully it won’t make him fearful.

Please look away if you don’t want to see Barney’s wound…

Hey mummy…look at all this cool snow I got on me!

This snow stuff tastes real good.  I bet that yellow snow I saw earlier would taste even better…maybe I can try it later.

I wanted to see how I’d look as a white doodle mummy.  Whatcha think?

Can I come inside now?  My nose is a bit cold.

Fine…I’ll pose with daddy for you.

Oh, and mummy, don’t forget to put in that picture you took a few hours early when you made me pose as the snow was just coming down.  A big difference isn’t it?

Mum and dad have finally set me free from the cone from hell and I’m having lots of fun running around in the rain and muck with my doggy friends.  Mummy said that doing the couch to 5k programme with me is getting much easier, though she doesn’t like it when I stop to poop in the middle of the run.  Sorry mum, when ya gotta go ya gotta go. Simple as that.

I don’t think I’ve written about a small pet peeve of mine…nicknames.  Now, I know that mum and dad think that they are being cute with all the names they call me, but it’s getting a bit ridonculus.  How would they like it if I called them the following:

– Dumm dumm

– bumm bumm

– booboo pie

– dum shit

– googoo pie

– foofoo dog

– baabaa bear

– poopy bear

etc, etc

I realize that they are said with lots of love, but still…come on.  Call me Barney.  But boo boo?  Ick!  It’s embarassing!

Mummy had a bunch of people over for a bbq last night.  A lot of people.  They were all females, which was good, cause they are less scary than guys are.  But it was still quite scary.  People kept coming and coming.  I barked at them to let them know that they had to be careful about coming too close.  But I really wanted to get to know them.  So I’d sneak up on them, if they were sitting down and not looking, and sniff them.  I knew one person who had come to the house before and I realy liked licking her.  And I was able to be petted by another two.  But not everyone.  Mummy keeps telling me that I’m getting better at this.  That I don’t seem quite as scared, but I’m not sure.  Yeah, I guess I am a bit better.  Mummy said that I am not barking as long and that I become calmer.  I hope that she is right.  Cause people are still scary.  I’d like it if they were less scary.

The best part…

Hi all.  These are the reasons why I, Barney doodle, love autumn (or fall for you US folk):

  • There are tons of leaves on the ground, even in our more urban/suburban locale.  And other dogs wee in those leaves so I have lots of stuff to smell.
  • Mummy loves the fact that there are leaves on the pavement too…cause I tend to wee on them instead of on the concrete, and so I’m less likely to get wee on my paws as per usual.  When mummy is happy, I’m happy.
  • Because it gets dark early, I get really long walks during the weekend to make up for not getting walks in the fields in the evening.  I have so much fun with other dogs then and get to see lots of my friends.
  • It’s a lot colder now, which makes me happy cause I’m normally a bit warm (or even hot) with the big heavy coat that I have.  Cold is good!
  • When it rains, the puddles seem to be better and muddier and smellier…and I get to go face diving in them all!  I love getting muddy and smelly.

What I don’t like about autumn/fall:

  • More baths.  It seems as if mummy and daddy don’t like me go face diving so much.  And so I get a lot more baths right now.  I don’t like them.  I try to get away, but just can’t.  It’s a bummer.
  • No more walkies in the park at night or with mummy in the morning.  While the streets are fine, they just aren’t quite the same.  Mummy is too scared to walk me in the park in the dark.  I told her I’d protect her, but I guess the fact that old ladies seem to scare me didn’t give her much confidence in that.

Well…that’s it from me for now.  Mum and dad are feeling better after a round of stomach flu and hangovers, so I hope to have more pics in the near future of me having fun and running around!
