After a long morning of walking in the mud with almost a dozen labradoodles, the one hour ride back home and a bath, the Barnster was exhausted.

Here’s a quick pic (thanks Ali) of Barney at the pub after the walk…note the complete mess he was…and that I was!

Today is the 100th post on Doodle Daze.  It’s been a bit under eight months since Barney joined our family.  And I have to say that he has added so much joy to both Roy’s and my lives.   He is a ton of work, a pain in the tushy and a mucky puppy.  He is also a gentle soul, lets us get away with almost anything and is easy to take care of.  We never expected to have a dog like Barney and we can’t imagine life without him.

Barney…you are the best!

I have a love-hate relationship with the rain.  Why, you ask?  Well…let me tell ya.

Love – this is probably more obvious.  Rain means water.  Water means puddles and mud.  Puddles and mud equal fun and coolness.  And I smell all great and everything.  In the rain, no one can yell at me for getting wet or dirty.  It just happens.  It’s great.

Hate – Rain means wet.  Mummy doesn’t like cold wet.  So my walks by her are shorter cause she has recently been sick and doesn’t want to get sick again.  I think if it was warmer she wouldn’t mind so much, but in this cold she doesn’t like it.

Love – since we don’t go on as long walks, mummy plays a lot with me inside.  We do the ball chasey game and we wrestle.  She loves to cuddle with me on the couch.  And I get a whole lot more rubbies.  I love rubbies.

Hate – I get shoved out into the back garden.  And there aren’t any puddles or mud cause of that fake grass stuff.  It sucks.

So you see.  There’s lots to love and hate about the rain.

Mummy’s new health craze and idea

Here’s a few words from my mummy about a challenge she is going to be taking….and it’s all in honour of ME!

The idea…I’m going to raise money for the Labradoodle Trust.  This is the group that we got Barney from.  And they have lately been inundated by tons of dogs and have many needs.  Labradoodles have a few myths surrounding them, such as ‘they are hypoallergenic’ or ‘they don’t shed’…which in some cases is true, but in many…nope.  Barney sheds for England.  Seriously.  So, in honour of our wonderful doggy, I want to do something to raise money for them.  And what am I going to do?  Money for pounds.  And I’ll do it in a healthy manner.  I will not diet in the traditional way of starving myself, but will eat smaller portions and not eat as many desserts or drink as much wine.  I’ll workout, both by lifting weights (which I love) and by starting to jog with Barney…slowly at first and with lots of walking…but I’ll get there.  My fundraising will be a six month journey to give myself time to do this in a very healthy manner.  And my goal will be to lose twenty-five pounds – which is about 1 lb a week.

I’m calling this the Pounds for Pounds fundraiser.  I start today at the following weight:  168.8lb  , which is  12 stone and .8 pounds.  And my goal is to get to  143 lb, which is 10 stones and 3 pounds.  This is around the weight that I was right before I met my DH and probably my ideal weight when I’m fit.   Any money I raise during this time will be donated to the Labradoodle Trust, to help them find good homes for abandoned dogs.  If you are interested in supporting this cause, please let me know how many pounds (or dollars or euros or whatnot) you are willing to donate per pound I lose after this six month journey.  I’ll post a weekly progress report with my weight, what I’ve done well, what I’d done not so well and my thoughts so far.  No matter what  I lose, the Trust gains!  And while my focus is somewhat on me, it’ll be more on what I can do for someone/something else..which is always a good thing.

It’s been a little while since I last posted.  Overall, life has treated me well.  Mummy and daddy have not bathed me again, which makes me happy.  And for some reason, they seem to be hanging around a lot more.  I mean, I saw them most of the day for two days, which is normal…but today they seem to be here again.  Mummy told me it’s cause they are on vacation.  I’m not sure what that means but I love the fact that I can play ball chase with them, blankie pull and lick them whenever I want.  And mummy said that I’ll still get to go with Dima on my walks even though she’s going around some of the time all week long.  I don’t quite understand but I’m not complaining.  Mummy also said that she hopes to do another photo shoot with me this week, so I’ll post pics some time.  Soon.  So now that you have my news, what’s going on with all of you?

Mummy was sent an amazing video by her mummy.  It’s the cutest thing ever.  I saw it with her and have been asking for my own orangutan.  She told me that it wouldn’t like London or the weather.  I told her that we had to move.  She laughed and said that maybe one day I could get another dog for a friend instead.  But not for a while.  Maybe if I’m good she’ll get another doggy for me tomorrow.

Today mummy and daddy gave me a bath.  I thought I was being so good and they still put me in there.  They said it was cause I was all muddy and stinky and hadn’t been bathed in a long, long time.  I thought I just smelled like a dog.  Mummy bought me new soap that has all sorts of essential oils in it which should keep me from scratching.  And she thinks it smells yummy.  Ick.  I like the mud smell.

They had me up in the bath for a long time.  They scrubbed me a few times.  Something about having dirt balls on my fur and having to get dirt from between my paws.  I didn’t like being in the water that long and having my private bits rubbed.  Weirdos.  But it’s over now so I think I’m going to get on the couch and sleep for a bit.  All that cleaning is tiring.  At least mummy wants to cuddle up with me more now.  She said I’m very, very soft and when I become less damp that she’s going to give me a big ol’ massage.  Yay!
