We will soon be meeting a new young doodle named Barney!  He is a 2-1/2 year old black scruffy fellow who is coming from Preston (up north).  I don’t know too much about him other than these few things:

  • he is housetrained & used to staying on his own
  • he is nervous around new people (time to socialize!)
  • he is okay with new dogs as long as he gets a sniff
  • he’s bad off lead
  • he recently had a hair cut
  • he is up to date on vaccinations & has been microchipped (though we’ll have to arrange to get it tranferred to us).

What we are doing is actually fostering Barney with the option to adopt.  So it gives us some time to ‘try him out’ first.  It’s a good idea.  Knowing Roy & me, we’ll fall in love no matter what and adopt.  But we do have to be sensible (yeah, right…that will work!).

So – pictures to come!!!

Getting closer

I got a private message on a doodle board from the person who runs the Labradoodle Trust, which is the rescue group for labradoodles.  It was the message I had wanted to hear for the last few weeks: “We have a doodle coming in, in about a weeks time, which I think may suit you. He is a black scruffy. Will let you know more later.”

And then amazingly, I got a private message from one of the users of the board asking me if I’d be interested in taking on TWO doodles as her friend has to give them up due to a divorce.  I’m not so sure about having two dogs…but it makes me realize that we’re getting closer and closer to becoming dog owners.  I can’t wait!
